Today we learned about how people 100 years ago did their shopping. We saw and old handkerchief, pocket watch, penny and postcard. We also looked through a very old catalogue. There were a few giggles when we saw the underwear page.

Today we read about Thanksgiving and Halloween 100 years ago. We also learned about getting around by horse and buggy or electric train. We had lots of artifacts to touch. We also made our Valentine pouches. Thanks to Aryanne’s mom who came to help.
We will be having a Valentine party on February 14. Today your child brought home a paper telling what they are to bring for the party. Please send this to school on Thursday. Your child will still need their regular lunch and snack that day. If your child is making Valentine cards for their classmates please send those in as soon as possible.
Today we read about what it was like to go to school 100 years ago. We saw a genuine school bell, some bellows for the school fire, and a water dipping cup. We also got to try some of the olden days toys. We are really glad that our school doesn’t have a dunce cap!
Today we started learning about what it was like to live in Surrey over 100 years ago. We have borrowed a kit from the Surrey Museum with a story and many artifacts from long ago. The children enjoyed the first lesson and touching all the artifacts. Ask your child what these things are.
Today we finished all the writing in our whale books then we had to cut out all 9 pages. What a big job!
Parents, with the arrival of snow and cold weather, please make sure to send your child dressed for the weather. We go outside for 15 minutes at recess and 30 minutes at lunch. Your child needs a warm coat, boots, mitts and a hat. Many children came without boots or mitts today.
