Today our artist friend, Shirley, came back to help us paint our papier-mâché Christmas trees. They turned out beautifully.

Division 16 December News
We have finished our study of light and sound at school and are getting ready for Christmas. December promises to be a busy month as we approach the Christmas holidays. Remember to keep checking the website/blog as I post photos and information every day. The website is www.mrswattclass.weebly.com. Also, get in the habit of checking your child’s Freshgrade portfolio regularly so that you can stay informed of their progress at school. Here are the highlights for the month of December. Dec. 3 – Ugly Christmas Sweater Day Dec. 4-6 – Scholastic Book Fair – books will be for sale in our library at lunch and after school. Dec. 10 – End of term one – For some classes, this is the day that report cards will be sent home. For our class, we will be sending a short letter outlining the details about how your child’s Freshgrade portfolio has replaced formal written report cards. Please fill out the bottom of this form and return it to school Dec. 12 – Early Dismissal at 1:30 to allow for parent/teacher conferences. Call the school office to make an appointment. Dec. 13 – Kindergarten Dental Screening Dec. 14 – Public Library Books Due – parents are responsible for returning the books their child borrowed to the Guildford Public Library on or before this date. Dec. 19 – Winter Concert – There will a performance at 1:00 and 6:00. Parents will need to purchase tickets to attend either of these shows. Children should be dropped off at the classroom at 5:30 for the evening performance and picked up back at the classroom immediately following the show. A note will be sent home about what your child needs to wear for the performance. Dec. 22 – Last day of school before winter break. Today we painted a light bulb and a Christmas tree on our t-shirts. Thanks to the parents who came to help.
Today we had a new projector installed with our smartboard. The old one quit working over a month ago so we are all very excited today.
We had a great trip to the Guildford Public Library today. The children learned about the many books and programs offered at the library as well as a very entertaining magic show. Thanks to the parents who drove on the trip.
We have had a lot of trouble lately with toys brought from home for use at centres and outside for recess and lunch. The supervisors tell me that they are constantly monitoring arguments over toys and children crying over broken toys. I am finding similar problems at centres time in the classroom. For these reasons, we are asking children to keep their own toys at home. We have plenty of toys in the classroom for their use. The only exception will be when your child has the sharing bag at home. That will be the only time toys from home can be brought to school. Thanks for your support with this.
Remember we are going to the Guildford Public Library tomorrow (Friday). If your child already has a public library card, be sure to send it to school tomorrow. If you filled out the application and sent it to school, your chid's new card will be waiting for them at the library. Drivers are asked to come to the classroom at 12:30 tomorrow. If you are not driving, remember to send your child's booster seat to school tomorrow.
