It’s hard to believe, but the school year is drawing to a close. I always find this time of year very satisfying. The development I have seen in the children this year is quite remarkable. I hope you will keep the learning moving along for your child during the summer. Have them join the summer reading program at the public library. They would also enjoy visiting our most popular websites during the summer (Starfall and Illuminations Math Activities). During the next two weeks I will begin sending your child’s books and schoolwork home to try to avoid a large haul on the last day. Also, if your child’s birthday is in July or August, we will be celebrating their special day on the corresponding date in June. Here are the highlights for the final weeks of the school year.
June 8 – Games Day – Parents are welcome to come and cheer on their children during novelty races, tug of war, etc. A hot dog and a drink will be provided for all Dogwood students on that day. You may like to send any additional food with your child on that day as there will not be a concession open on that day. I will post a list of team colours on the window and blog.
June 15 – Parent Appreciation Tea 1:00. This event is hosted by the Dogwood staff. It is our way of thanking the many parent volunteers. Come and enjoy some refreshments and social time with other parents.
June 26 – Board Game Day (children may bring in a board game they know how to play – no electronics please)
June 27 – Movie and Stuffy Day: We will be watching a movie with Mrs. Mitchell’s class. Children are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal for the movie.
June 28 – Year end celebration at the spray park – weather permitting (notice coming home soon).
June 29– early dismissal (1:30) and last day of school for children.
HAPPY SUMMER!
