As we begin our second month of school, we have nicely settled into classroom routines and programs are all well underway. Thank-you for returning the planner and home reading books each day. Remember you can use your child’s home reading book to put a note in to me as I read them first thing each morning. Also, I will be giving a prize to your child when they have completed their first 25 pages so count at home and ask them to let me know when they reach 25, 50, 75 etc. Remember to check the class website and blog for news of upcoming activities, photos and descriptions of our classroom activities. Also, I have emailed all parents with an invitation to access your child’s Freshgrade portfolio. This is an electronic portfolio that I am creating for each child in the class. The portfolio will contain photos, videos and teacher comments about how your child is doing at school. This will serve as an alternate to traditional report cards. You will have access to your child’s portfolio from any device (computer, iPad, cell phone, etc.) that can access the internet. If you did not receive the email, please let me know right away and we will find the problem. Thanks for sending back all those September forms and the $20 for your child’s t-shirt.
October promises to be a busy and exciting month for the children. Below are the highlights for the month.
October 4 – please send in one apple (any kind/fresh/not cut) for a craft
October 5– Special Thanksgiving craft – apple turkeys
October 5 – Individual Photo Day

October 31 – Halloween Celebration: We will be having a Halloween party at school. Children may wear their costumes to school and bring clothes to change into at lunch or they may choose to dress in orange and black for the day. A special note about the party will be sent home soon regarding party food. I will require several parent volunteers for the party. If you can help, please put a note in your child’s home reading book. Younger siblings are welcome.
