Today our big buddies from Mrs. Deamer's class came and helped us make our own monster. Try not to be scared!
Today our whole school received a wonderful Halloween surprise from our custodian, Debbie. She put up this beautiful Halloween display complete with treat bags for every child in the school. Wow. We made thank you cards for her. Also, here is a photo of today's winners of the Freshgrade Scavenger Hunt prize. Remember to get those completed and returned to school so your child will get the prize too. For the comments, please add them electronically to your child's portfolio.
Today I sent home your child's fall interim. It is in the form of a Freshgrade Scavenger Hunt. The directions are on this page so that you and your child can explore their Freshgrade portfolio. Fill in the answers and have your child bring the paper back to school so that they can get a prize!
Today we did a social studies lesson on how our community has changed. Hundreds of years ago, before the settlers came, the people of this area lived in long houses and caught salmon to eat. The children did pictures of homes and food, then and now.
Today your child brought home a notice about our next field trip to the Surrey Public Library at Guildford. Please fill out the permission slip and return it to school right away. Thanks.
Today our school librarian, Mrs. Chan-Doyle organized a pajama and stuffy reading time. The kids loved it.
Today our artist, Shirley, came back and helped us paint our papier mache leaf. They look beautiful.
Today we used our big pumpkin for math. Everyone had a turn to hold the pumpkin and feel how big and heavy it was. Then I came around with a roll of string and each child had a turn to guess how long to cut the string to fit around the pumpkin. Once everyone had their own string, I took a new string and measured it around the pumpkin. Then they all had a turn to come and measure their string against the "Just Right" string. They had to decide if their string was too short, too long or just right. Christina guessed the string just right! Also, tomorrow is pajama day. Children may wear their pajamas to school and bring a stuffie. We are also painting our paper mache leaf projects so keep in mind that this paint does not come off clothes. You may want to send an extra old shirt for painting.
Today I taught the children how to Air Drop a photo to my iPad. They caught on very quickly! Parents, remember that Friday is a Pro-D Day so there is no school for children. Have a great weekend.
