Wishing all of you a safe and joyful holiday season! See you in January.
We had a great day at Grouse Mountain today. The children loved the tram ride up then we played in the snow, looked at the reindeer, watched a short movie, had lunch by the fire then had a visit with Santa. The highlight was getting a chance to slide down the snowy hill. Thanks to the parents who came to help today.
We mailed our letters to Santa on December 1 and he wrote back. Our school secretary brought the letters to our classroom and they were freezing cold. That must be ice from the North Pole!
Today we enjoyed our Christmas turkey lunch. Mrs. Watt cooked the turkey at home and everyone brought something to share. Thanks to Mr. Godin, Mrs. Hanefeld, Mrs. Vanegas and Mr. Sarengelo who peeled and cooked all the vegetables and prepared the gravy and stuffing. The children loved the meal. After lunch our artist friend Shirley came back and we painted our papier mache trees. The trees look beautiful. Today we worked with our friends in Mrs. Mitchell's class and completed 3 crafts. We made a star out of macaroni and popsicle sticks, a tree using an ice cream cone, icing and sprinkles and a melted snowman out of glue and shaving foam. We had lots of fun. Thanks to the parents who came to help. Just a reminder that Monday is our turkey lunch day. Please send the item your child signed up for first thing Monday morning. We will also be painting our papier mache trees on Monday and the artist advised us that the paint will not wash off clothes, so keep the fancy clothes at home. Thanks. Parents, I still need to collect $2 for the turkey lunch from several families. Please send it to school tomorrow in a labelled envelope. Also, many of you still have your child's report card envelope and cover at home. Please sign the cover and return just the cover and envelope. You can keep the inserts. Today we were getting our shirts ready to be snowman costumes for the show tomorrow. Thanks to the parents who have already sent in a bag containing your child's hat, scarf and mitts. If you haven't done this yet, we need it for tomorrow. Also, I am collecting $2 per child to cover the cost of the turkey next week. Please send that in tomorrow in an envelope labelled with your child's name. I am still in need of parent volunteers on the turkey lunch day (Dec. 14). Let me know if you can help. Thanks. |
