This Friday, March 16 is "Job Day" at Dogwood. Students are asked to think about what they might want to do when they grow up. Then they dress in the clothes they might wear for that job. Students who participate will be entered into a prize draw. There is also a prize for the class with the highest number of participants.
Today our big buddy class performed some skits for us. They were based on Robert Munich books that many of us knew.
This month we are learning about being resourceful. For us, it means making do with what we have. We went outside and thought of ways to play without any toys or equipment. The children thought of tag games, hide and seek, collecting sticks, gymnastics and making their own hopscotch using sticks and pine cones. I reminded them that this is how First Nations children would have played hundreds of years ago.
Today our kindergarten children went to the high school with Mrs. Sladek’s class to make cupcakes. They look delicious. Grade one children who went to Dogwood last year got to do this too.
Today we painted hearts for February and an Easter egg for March on our t-shirts. Thanks to Roy’s mom who came to help.
Remember that our kindergarten children are going to Fraser Heights Secondary School tomorrow for cupcakes with Mrs. Sladek's class. Parents, remember to send your child dressed to walk in the weather and send a container large enough for four cupcakes.
Today we played this game at school on the Smartboard. I have challenged the children to try playing this game at home and post their highest score in the comments section. The game only works on a computer. I have put the link below. There is a permanent link on the "links" page of this website to this game and many other math games we use at school.
Today we read a funny story about the Rhyming Dust Bunnies. I introduced the book by explaining what dust bunnies were. Then we searched around the classroom and hallway for dust bunnies. We found quite a few!
