Today we got some help from our Big Buddies to make a special surprise for mom!

We have many students who like to make things. Some kids worked together at math time to build the hundreds chart with plastic cups. We also have some pencil and purse makers in our class.
Our Spring Concert is coming up next week on May 17. The children have been practicing their part of the performance every day. We will be singing "The Garden Song" and Mr. Lee has asked the children to wear black or dark pants or skirt with a green t-shirt for the performance. It would be best if the shirt didn't have any lettering or pictures on it. Reasonably priced t-shirts can be purchased at Michael's crafts. Be sure to ask for a 40% off coupon. We would like to have the shirts at school by Monday, May 15 for our dress rehearsal.
We are just wrapping up our theme of the earth and the environment and will be starting our seeds and plants unit. For our plant unit, we will be planting bean seeds and observing their growth at school. At the end of this unit, your child will be bringing home their plant ready to plant in the garden at home. I would like to remind parents that the children should now be writing a sentence each day about the book they read in their Home Reading notebook. This is an opportunity for children to practice applying their literacy skills. Remember to check our website and blog (www.mrswattclass.weebly.com) as I post new things every day. Also, keep checking your child’s Freshgrade portfolio for new activities. Here are the highlights for the month of May.
