Today we began our math unit called "Financial Literacy ". One of the goals of this unit is for children to be able to name and recognize Canadian coins. We started by looking at coins in a big book then on the smartboard. We wrote the names on the smartboard. Then the children were given paper coins to glue on their page and record the correct names beside the coins. We finished with a song about money called "Canada in my Pocket".

Today your child is bringing home the notice about our final field trip to the water park at Erma Stephenson Park. Attached to the regular notice is a new waiver form that the Surrey School District now requires for field trips. Please sign both forms. The entire waiver form needs to be returned to school. For the regular field trip form, please cut it along the line, sign the bottom and return only the bottom portion. Thanks for for your understanding of this new process.
The children have really been enjoying our outside centres. Their choices are skipping, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and waterway!
Below is a link to an online book resource called "Tumblebooks". It is usually a paid website but our Surrey School District has purchased a district licence so that students can access it at school and at home. There are dozens of published children's books brought to life by narration and some animation. There is a user name and password required. Enjoy! User name: sd36bc Passwoord: sd36bc Just a reminder that it is Games Day tomorrow, rain or shine. Please dress your child in their team colours. Lists are posted on the window and on this blog. Your child will receive a free hot dog and drink tomorrow. Any other snacks will need to be sent from home. There will not be a concession at school to purchase additional food.
Today we worked on our geometry project. The children had to find 4 objects for each of the four shapes (circle, square, rectangle and triangle) and take pictures of them and add to their Book Creator project. Watch your child's freshgrade portfolio to see their project.
