Also, the proofs for individual photos were sent home today. Photo orders are due October 27. Scholastic book orders are due tomorrow.

Today the children started making a book on the iPad about our community. The children were matched with a partner in Mrs. Mitchell's class. They are using the app called Book Creator where they can add photos, videos, sound recordings, internet images and drawings to their book. Watch for their finished book in video format coming to their Freshgrade portfolio soon.
This afternoon the power went out right during centres. The children moved the toys closer to the windows and we took things out to the hallway under the skylights. The kids were awesome.
We had a great time at the pumpkin patch today. It was a little rainy but that didn't spoil the fun. Thanks to all the parents who came on this trip.
Remember we are going to Aldor Acres Pumpkin Patch tomorrow (rain or shine). Make sure you send your child wearing boots. Please tuck a small snack in their jacket pocket. Also, if you are not driving, remember to send your child's booster seat.
Today we had a visit from the artist, Shirley. She helped us make a leaf out of papier mache. She will be back in two weeks to help us paint the leaves. Ask your child what kind of paper we used!
Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with lots of turkeys. We made a paper turkey with our big buddies. Then we sang a turkey song. We finished the day by making an apple turkey with candy. Remember there is no school on Monday. Happy Thanksgiving.
Today we read a lovely story about a young fox who is just learning about how leaves change colour and drop off the tree in the fall. Then we practiced reading on the pocket chart about leaves. We finished by choosing four leaf colours and drawing and writing them in our books. Watch your child's Freshgrade portfolio to see their work.
Today we made patterns with beads on a string. Then we re-named the patterns with letters. A pattern of red, red, blue, blue, yellow would be called AABBC. Ask your child to try to re-name the patterns in these photos.
