Today our whole school participated in Stop Drop and Read. We used the blankets to make tents and used the flashlights to read inside the tent with a friend. It was adorable!
Today these children returned their completed Freshgrade Scavenger Hunt papers so they received a prize. I have lots more candy so get your Scavenger Hunt paper back to school so your child can get a prize!
Just a reminder that tomorrow (Friday) is a pro-d day at Dogwood so there is no school for children. Also, on Monday it is Drop Everything and Read day. Children are asked to bring a small blanket and a flashlight for camping style reading.
Remember we are going to Aldor Acres pumpkin farm tomorrow (Wednesday). Make sure your child wears boots and a jacket. Put a small snack in their jacket pocket and send a plastic bag labelled with your child's name. If you are not driving, you also need to send your child's booster seat to school in the morning.
Today in science we were wondering if a pumpkin would sink or float in a tub of water. I brought in three pumpkins (small, medium and large). First we all had a turn to hold the pumpkins to see how heavy they were. Then we guessed if they would sink or float. All the children thought that the small pumpkin would float but the medium and large pumpkins would sink. We tested each one and the children were shocked that even the large pumpkin floated on the water. Then we recorded our findings on paper!
