Tomorrow (Wednesday) is team colour day at Dogwood. All students in the school have been placed on a colour team. Students are asked to dress in their team colour for our assembly tomorrow. Here is the list.
This month our school-wide theme is gratitude. Today we spent time with a partner to tell what we are grateful for. Then we watched this video clip called "Gratitude".
Hi parents. By now you should have received an email inviting you to your child's Freshgrade portfolio. Please follow the link and if you are new to Freshgrade, you will need to create an account with password. You can also download the Freshgrade app for use on mobile devices. You can also go to the Freshgrade website and log in from there. If you are logging in from a web browser, you will need to select "Freshgrade Classic". The Freshgrade company is currently working on a revised version called "Freshgrade Next". The new version is not ready for this school year, so you will always have to select "Freshgrade Classic". In fact, the troubles with the new version resulted in a delayed start for our entire school district. Now that it is up and running, check your child's portfolio often as I am always adding new things. If you turn on notifications for the app, you will be notified as soon as there is something new on your child's portfolio. Feel free to add comments to items in your child's portfolio. Keep in mind this is replacing their report card, so it is not the place for emojis. Enjoy!
Today at centres time I showed some children a few new tricks on the Smartboard. Look at these funny kids.
As we begin our second month of school, we have nicely settled into classroom routines and programs are all well underway. Thank-you for returning the planner and home reading books each day. Remember you can use your child’s home reading book to put a note in to me as I read them first thing each morning. Also, I will be giving a prize to your child when they have completed their first 25 pages so count at home and ask them to let me know when they reach 25, 50, 75 etc. Remember to check the class website and blog for news of upcoming activities, photos and descriptions of our classroom activities. Please check it out at www.mrswattclass.weebly.com Also, watch for an email to all parents with an invitation to access your child’s Freshgrade portfolio. This is an electronic portfolio that I am creating for each child in the class. The portfolio will contain photos, videos and teacher comments about how your child is doing at school. This will serve as an alternate to traditional report cards. You will have access to your child’s portfolio from any device (computer, iPad, cell phone, etc.) that can access the internet. If you do not receive the email, please let me know right away and we will find the problem. Thanks for sending in the $20 for your child’s t-shirt.
