Today we spent time with our big buddies. We used the Doodle Buddy app on the iPad's.
Today we painted the Canadian flag on our t-shirts. We will be wearing our special class t-shirts to the Guildford Public Library next week. I am still missing 4 library trip permission forms. Please send those in tomorrow. Thanks. The children have been learning the symbols of Canada. Today we used our handprint to make a flag. Thanks to Kenzie's mom who came to help.
Parents, just to remind you that permission forms for the Guildford Public Library trip are due on Friday. Also remember that Fridays are our school library days so send in those books so that your child can sign out new books for the long week-end.
Today we recognized Remembrance Day at Dogwood. Thanks to Nkaia, Katie, Umber and Matilda who did a great job representing our class at the assembly. The whole class sang beautifully with Mr. McRae.
Today your child brought home the permission letter and application for our trip to the Guildford Public Library. The timeline for returning those forms is short so that we have time to forward any new card applications to the staff at the library so that they can prepare your child's library card before our visit. You are welcome to take your child to the library yourself to get a new library card before our visit. If your child already has a public library card, you do not need to fill out the application. Simply send their library card to school on the day of the trip. Remember, that children who do not have their own library card will not be allowed to sign out books.
As October comes to a close, we are looking ahead to November. For this month, the theme will be Canada. We will be looking at maps and learning symbols of Canada as well as the words to O Canada. Remember to help your child count their completed pages in their Home Reading books and to let me know when they reach 25. One student has already received her prize for completing 25 pages. Also, thanks for keeping the Halloween treats at home. Below are the highlights for the month of November. November 5 at 10:30 – School-wide Remembrance Day assembly. Parents are welcome. November 10 – Professional Development Day (no school for children) November 11 – Remembrance Day holiday (schools closed) November 20 – field trip to Guildford Public Library (form coming home tomorrow) Remember that parents are always welcome in the class. Let me know if you would like to arrange a visit to observe your child in the class and get a first hand look at some of the activities your child is involved with. You can stay for as long as you like. |
