We are very short of drivers for the trip to the library next week. If you can drive, please let me know right away, otherwise we will have to cancel the trip.

Today your child brought home an order form for a special Dogwood Anniversary t-shirt. The timeline for orders is short so don’t be disappointed.
Last month all grade one children brought home an envelope containing a bundle of sight words. Everyone started on List 1. We have 11 lists all together. Some children are already finished learning all 11 lists. If your child is still on List 1 or 2 they are a little behind. Please help your child practice reading their words every night. Thanks.
Remember that tomorrow is a pro-d day so no school for children. Monday is Remembrance Day so we will see you on Tuesday.
Today our big buddies helped us log into FreshGrade and we showed them our awesome work. Then they taught us how to make a comment on any activity.
Today we cut and painted a paper plate to make a poppy. Tomorrow we will add the seeds. Then our poppies will go on the wall in the gym to decorate for our Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday.
Today your child brought home their picture and envelope for the "Cards by Me" fundraiser sponsored by our PAC group. If you would like to order any items for this fundraiser, all orders are due by Wednesday, November 6. The timeline is quite short, so please don't be disappointed.
For the month of November our science theme will be Light and Sound. Remember to help your child count their completed pages in their Home Reading books and to let me know when they reach 25. Many students have already received their prize for completing 25 pages and are now working toward 50. Thanks to the many parents who have been adding comments to their child’s Freshgrade portfolio. Keep in mind that this portfolio has replaced the traditional report card. I hope that parents set aside some time once or twice a week to review the portfolio with their child so that you will stay informed of how your child is doing in school. Also, thanks for keeping the Halloween treats at home and continuing to send fruit for your child’s snack. Below are the highlights for the month of November. November 5 – Photo Retakes Please put a note in your child’s home reading book if you wish to have their photo re-done November 7 – School-wide Remembrance Day assembly Parents welcome November 8 – Professional Development Day no school for children November 11 – Remembrance Day schools closed November 22 – field trip to Guildford Public Library |
