Today the children logged into their own FreshGrade account to view their portfolio items. Then they chose any activity and made post a comment. Most of them did this task without any help from me! Check your child’s portfolio to see their comment.
Today we found our elf on the rainbow table sitting on the letter stamp kit. He had stamped his name. Now we know he can write!
Today we had two exciting Christmas events. First we received a special package in the mail directly from the North Pole. It was a box from Santa containing our own Elf on the Shelf. Then we wrote our letters to Santa and walked to the mailbox to mail them. We hope he writes back!
We have finished our study of light and sound at school and are getting ready for Christmas. December promises to be a busy month as we approach the Christmas holidays. Remember to keep checking the website/blog as I post photos and information every day. Also, get in the habit of checking your child’s Freshgrade portfolio regularly so that you can stay informed of their progress at school. Also, remember to count your child’s pages in their Home Reading book and have them let me know when they reach 50 or 75 books so that they can receive their prize. Here are the highlights for the month of December. Dec. 1 – Pajama Day Dec. 7 – Kindergarten Hearing and Vision Screening Dec. 11 – End of term one – For some classes, this is the day that report cards will be sent home. For our class, we will be sending a short letter outlining the details about how your child’s Freshgrade portfolio has replaced formal written report cards. Please fill out the bottom of this form and return it to school Dec. 13 – Early Dismissal at 1:30 to allow for parent/teacher conferences. Call the school office to make an appointment. Dec. 19 – Field study to Grouse Mountain – We are heading up the mountain in North Vancouver to enjoy the “Peak of Christmas” activities. A notice about the trip will be sent home next week. Remember winter clothing and booster seat for this day. Dec. 22 – Last day of school before winter break. |
